Ski-Doo didn’t announced a total budget for its Snow PASS program, but officials there said the company is frankly hoping to give away a substantial amount of money with the program. Many credit that 1971 launch with kick-starting efforts to build a snowmobile trail infrastructure across North America. The program harkens back to a much-heralded sport-supporting program that Bombardier launched 40 years ago called SnoPlan.
Under the program, Ski-Doo and its parent company BRP will offer grants of up to $5,000 in matching funds to national, provincial, state and local clubs and associations who are doing things to help the sport of snowmobiling.
We first caught wind of it at the International Snowmobile Congress in June, when Ski-Doo officials started informing snowmobile clubs and associations of its impending creation. The Ski-Doo Snow PASS Grant Program was officially unveiled on Tuesday, August 3. Snowmobile market share leader Ski-Doo is launching a new program that aims to support the sport’s grass roots network with targeted grants to “preserve, renew and expand” the sport of snowmobiling.
